One index, every vehicle Indians drive.
Neutrality is a feature, not a slogan.
Everywhere else you look up your car's value, someone stands to gain from the number they show you. Dealers underquote to buy low. Marketplaces inflate to attract sellers.
The Resale Value has no listing to close and no dealer margin to protect. We publish a fair-market price band based on real Indian transaction data, and we publish the method by which we calculate it.
What is a car valuation?
A car valuation is the fair-market price a used car should sell for today, based on real transactions of comparable vehicles. It considers make, model, year, kilometres driven, city, and condition. A good car valuation gives a price band, not a single number, because every buyer, seller, and route to sale prices a used car differently.
The price a used car changes hands at between an ordinary buyer and seller. Always a range, never one number.
A tool that computes fair-market car value from inputs like year, kilometres, city, and condition. Ours is free and instant.

How do I check car valuation for free in India?
Use a neutral car value calculator like The Resale Value. Enter make, model, year, kilometres, and city, and you get a fair-market price band in under a minute. No signup, no phone number, no dealer calls.
How accurate is an online used car valuation?
A good online used car valuation is accurate to within 5 to 8% of the actual sale price for mainstream models. Accuracy drops for rare models, very old vehicles, and cars with unusual histories. That is why we show a band, plus a confidence rating.
What affects the resale value of my car?
Five factors dominate: age, kilometres driven, service history, city demand, and route to sale. A private-sale price is typically 5 to 12% higher than an instant-buy quote for the same car. Colour, insurance status, and number of previous owners add a smaller correction.
Is a car valuation the same as an IDV?
No. A car valuation is a fair-market price for a private sale. IDV, or Insured Declared Value, is a separate figure used by insurers to cap claim payouts, and it is typically 10 to 15% below fair-market value. Our IDV tool is on the way.
