Creta depreciation curve, year on year

Five-year retention lands at about 56% and ten-year retention at about 32%, compared with a segment average of about 51% at five years and 28% at ten. What drives the Creta's resale value
The Creta has been India's best-selling mid-size SUV in most quarters since 2015 and holds value close to the top of its segment. Its resale strength is a function of two things: sustained demand for SUV body-styles across every metro and non-metro, and Hyundai's extensive service network second only to Maruti.
The January 2024 facelift brought a substantially new design language, ADAS Level 2, and a re-tuned suspension. On the used market, pre-facelift 2020 to 2023 Creta cars have re-rated downwards by 4 to 6% since the facelift's arrival, larger than a typical mid-cycle refresh would trigger.
Diesel Creta continues to hold value better than petrol despite the shrinking diesel share in new-car sales. Automatic diesel variants are the highest-liquidity permutation, particularly the SX and SX(O) trims. The 10-year NCR diesel cutoff is priced into 2015 to 2016 Creta diesels but does not yet affect 2020+ cars materially.
The 1.4L T-GDi turbo petrol offered on the 2020 to 2023 SX(O) variant has weaker resale than the naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol, driven by higher perceived running costs and lower forum reliability sentiment. That has not yet translated to the current 1.5L T-GDi (2024+), which has faced no material re-rating.
