The Swift has been India's highest-volume hatchback in most years since its 2005 launch, and that scale is the single biggest driver of its resale strength. Parts availability at Maruti's Arena network, mechanic familiarity in every town, and buyer trust in the badge together create a resale floor no direct competitor matches.
The 4th-generation Swift launched in India in May 2024 with the new 1.2-litre Z12E 3-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the K12N Dualjet unit. The 3-cylinder switch is the most-discussed change on owner forums, and it has slightly compressed the price band between latest-gen (2024+) and prior-gen (2018–2024) cars in the used market, in the prior generation's favour, for the first 12 months of the new generation.
Factory-fitted CNG was introduced on the Swift in 2023, on VXi and ZXi variants. In the used market, factory CNG trades 3–5% above equivalent petrol in NCR, Ahmedabad, and pockets of Gujarat. Aftermarket CNG kits, common on 2018–2022 units, are penalised by 6–10%.
Automatic (AMT / AGS) variants have closed most of the historical resale gap with manuals. As of mid-2026, an AMT Swift trades within 1% of an equivalent manual across metros, driven by rising automatic preference in city-only ownership patterns.

- ▸Rear suspension bush wear appears around 55,000–70,000 km on 2018+ Swifts driven on poor roads. Replacement is a routine service item, roughly ₹3,000–5,000 at Arena.
