What drives the Camry's resale value

The current Camry generation (XV70) was reintroduced to India in 2019 exclusively as a self-charging hybrid, after Toyota discontinued the plain-petrol Camry that had been sold here since the early 2000s, making it one of the first full-hybrid sedans sold at scale in the country.

Sold in essentially a single, fully-loaded trim throughout its run, the Camry's buyer base is almost entirely corporate fleets, senior executives, and chauffeur-driven owners rather than self-driven retail buyers, which keeps odometer readings on used examples unusually low relative to the car's age.

Toyota's hybrid reliability reputation, built over more than a decade of Camry and Prius hybrid systems globally, gives the car unusually strong percentage retention for a low-volume premium sedan, but the very small number of cars sold each year means the resale market is thin and a buyer may take longer to find than for a higher-volume luxury sedan.

Because the Camry has no petrol-only or diesel sibling in India, every used Camry on the market is a hybrid, which removes the powertrain-choice complexity that complicates resale comparisons for most other sedans in this bracket, such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class or Honda City.

How TheResaleValue calculates these numbers

Resale bands aggregate wholesale transaction prices across Indian metros, refreshed monthly. Age is calculated in whole years from the manufacturing date on the RC. Kilometre bands are self-reported and rounded to the nearest band. City adjustments apply an RTO-level multiplier on the all-India mid.

Frequently asked questions

What is the resale value of a Toyota Camry in India?

A Toyota Camry Hybrid retains roughly 76% of its ex-showroom price after two years and about 68% after three years, still around 56% at year five, well above typical premium sedan retention as of September 2026.

Why does the Camry hold value better than most sedans in its price range?

Its 3-year retention of about 68% sits roughly 10 points above the Sedan segment average of 58%, a combination of Toyota's hybrid reliability reputation and low-mileage usage patterns from its mostly chauffeur-driven, corporate-fleet ownership base.

Is it hard to resell a Toyota Camry in India?

The percentage value retained is strong, but the Camry's very low sales volumes mean the pool of interested used-car buyers is small, so sellers should expect a longer time-to-sale than a higher-volume luxury sedan, even at a favourable price.

How much does a Camry depreciate per year?

A Camry Hybrid loses about 15% of value in year one, with 3-5 percentage point annual retention drops through year five (to roughly 56%), a notably flatter curve than the sedan segment average of 45% at the same age.

Which city gives the best resale price for a Camry?

Delhi NCR and Mumbai trade around +2% above the national mid, reflecting the largest pools of executive and chauffeur-driven buyers, while Kolkata trades roughly -2% because of a very limited premium hybrid-sedan market there.
